Anime LA Recap
Thursday, January 14, 2010 at 9:32PM Wow, ALA started early for the UGTL... can't believe we were up before 9am! By the time we finally located the game room within the massive LAX Marriott Hotel, we were hungry and in need of caffine. We said eff-it and began assisting with hooking all the equipment we needed to run an SF4 tourney.
You can never fully appreciate PA systems until you try to run a tournament of 23 people amongst a constant flow of cos-play enthusiasts. We love costumes, screaming, and loud noises just as much as the next person (huh?), but trying to announce the next entrant over a crowd is a bit nasty on the throat. Should have brought a bullhorn. Even though half the players disappeared during the middle of the tourney, and no one could hear a thing, it turned out to be fun! UGTL was reppin' by landing 3 of 4 entrants in the top 8. If you were there, you could have witnessed Bmarq's El Fuerte take 1st. Rigged? Definitely not... he actually is good (now).
